To take these tags to the next level, let’s play with depth and textures. Let’s start with Santa’s beard. Instead of a flat white, I suggest using a very, very light gray base (almost white) and applying small curved lines with a gray or pale blue pencil to mimic the direction of the hair. Then, with a blender or cotton, soften it a bit, leaving the tip of the beard lighter for a shine effect. You’ll see what a cool volume it gains!
With the gifts, we can create a textured wrapping paper effect. If the paper has polka dots (like the gifts below), first color the base of the box with a vibrant color (a cherry red or an emerald green). Afterward, for the dots, use a lighter color of the same hue or a complementary color. The trick here is to apply a subtle shadow under the bows and on one of the corners of the box to make it look like the light is coming from one side—this creates a super impactful three-dimensional effect! Moreover, to add an extra touch of magic to the bow, use a base color and then add a little white or a very pale color in the center of the curves to simulate the shine of a silk or glossy ribbon, blending it gently toward the edges. Remember that the fabric folds and creases should be the darkest points, so intensify the color in those spots.
