Two adult brachiosaurs and two little ones share a prehistoric scene. Play with greens and greys to tell each long-necked family member apart as you color.

Description

A family of dinosaurs to colour in are gathered in a prehistoric landscape. They are Brachiosauruses: two adults with their enormous bodies and long, curved necks, and two young ones by their side.

It’s worth playing with scale. The adults have plenty of surface to fill and can handle stronger, deeper colors. The young ones work better in lighter shades, as if their skin were softer. The neck is the trickiest area: it’s long and narrow, and any change in pressure shows right away. Color along its length, top to bottom, and the result will look much cleaner. The legs and tail are wide open zones — great for practicing volume with a slightly darker second layer along the edges.

Tips and tricks
🦕 Big, open shapes make it easy to color without going over the lines. ✏️ If you're using pencils, follow the direction of the neck for a smoother, cleaner stroke. 💡 This is a great quiet activity after an energetic session — calming without being boring.
Frequently asked questions
How do we know they existed if no one ever saw them?

Through fossils — bones, footprints, and teeth preserved in rock for millions of years. Paleontologists study those remains to figure out what these animals looked like and how they lived.

How heavy could a full-grown brachiosaurus get?

Between 30 and 60 tonnes. To put that in perspective, that’s roughly the weight of 6 to 12 African elephants combined

Did brachiosauruses live at the same time as T. Rex?

Not quite. Brachiosaurus lived during the Jurassic period, about 150 million years ago. T. Rex came along in the Cretaceous, roughly 80 million years later — a huge gap, even by dinosaur standards.
