Hello Kitty witch costumes bring together one of the world's most famous characters and the best dress-up night of the year. Hello Kitty was created in Japan in 1974 and first appeared on a small coin purse the next year. Her round face, whiskers and signature bow are now recognized almost everywhere.
Her official story says her name is Kitty White and that she lives just outside London with her parents and her twin sister, Mimmy. She loves baking cookies and making new friends. She has no mouth, which her designers explained lets fans imagine she feels whatever they feel.
Halloween falls on October 31 and grew out of an old Celtic festival that marked the end of the harvest and the start of winter. People believed spirits could wander close to the living that night, so they wore disguises and lit fires.
Today kids put on witch hats, ghost sheets and monster masks and go trick-or-treating door to door, filling buckets with candy before heading home to sort their haul. Pumpkins carved into jack-o'-lanterns glow on porches, and a witch costume like this one is still among the most popular choices every year.
