Name both drivers and tell what they are building.
Construction trucks beep when backing up to warn anyone behind them.
A bulldozer and dump truck make a great team on any construction site. Moving dirt is one of the first jobs when building something, and each machine has its own role: some dig, some push, some load and some haul.
The bulldozer pushes soil with its blade and piles it up. Then an excavator or loader drops it into the dump truck's bed, and the truck drives it somewhere else. There it tips its bed back and lets the load slide out. Often that dirt fills a low spot elsewhere on the same site, so nothing goes to waste.
To stay safe, drivers talk over two-way radios and use hand signals, and they always check that nobody is nearby before moving. Workers wear hard hats and bright vests so drivers can spot them from high cabs. Just like players on a team, everyone does their part, and the job goes smoothly when they work together.
Before work begins, engineers figure out how much soil must come out and how much must go back in to bring the land to the right height. Any extra dirt gets hauled to an approved site, and sometimes it is used by another project nearby.
