Shadow Holds Flames in Both Hands

About this drawing

Shadow the Hedgehog joined the series in 2001 and quickly became a fan favorite. He looks a lot like Sonic at first glance, but his quills are black with red streaks, and his attitude is far more serious and lonely.

In the story, a scientist aboard a space station created Shadow as the ultimate life form, a being who would be nearly unstoppable. That scientist was the grandfather of Doctor Eggman, which ties Shadow's past to Sonic's biggest enemy. Shadow spent years asleep and woke up unsure of who to trust.

He matches Sonic's speed, but in his own style. His shoes have jets that let him skate across the ground instead of running. With a Chaos Emerald, he can use Chaos Control, a power that freezes time or teleports him in a flash.

The gold rings on his wrists hold back some of his strength. When he takes them off, his power surges, but it wears him out quickly, so he only does it when there is no other option. That mix of power and mystery is a big part of why fans love him.
