About this drawing

Wolverine with claws out is the signature pose of Marvel's toughest mutant. His real name is Logan, and he is a member of the X-Men, a team of people born with special powers.

His main power is an incredible healing factor. His wounds close up very quickly and he ages far more slowly than other people, so he has lived for more than a century. His senses are as sharp as a wild animal's, and he can track someone just by scent.

The claws come out of his hands, between his knuckles. They started out as bone, but in a secret experiment his whole skeleton was coated in adamantium, a made-up metal that is nearly indestructible. Since then, his claws can slice through almost anything.

Wolverine first showed up in 1974 in a Hulk comic and quickly became a reader favorite. In the movies, the same actor played him for more than twenty years, which is very rare for a superhero role. Under his grumpy attitude, Logan is a loyal hero who always ends up looking out for the youngest heroes on the team. That mix of toughness and kindness is a big part of why fans love him.
