The Minecraft Enderman is one of the game's most mysterious mobs. It is very tall and thin, jet black with purple eyes, and its arms and legs are so long it towers over Steve. Endermen usually show up at night and in a faraway dimension called the End.

Most of the time an Enderman is neutral, wandering around and picking up blocks of dirt or sand to carry somewhere else. But there is one rule: do not look it in the eyes. Stare at one and it gets angry, lets out an eerie noise and attacks, teleporting from spot to spot.

Water is its big weakness. Rain and rivers hurt Endermen and make them teleport away. Players quickly learn that wearing a carved pumpkin on their head lets them look at an Enderman without making it mad.

Defeat one and it may drop an ender pearl, which teleports you when thrown. Combine pearls with blaze powder to craft eyes of Ender, the key to finding a stronghold and opening the portal to the End, where the game's final dragon waits.
