A Minecraft duck is a fan idea, since the game has no ducks. The farm bird you will find is the chicken, which lays eggs, drops feathers for crafting arrows and is famous for sometimes carrying a baby zombie on its back.
Real ducks are water birds found on rivers, lakes and ponds nearly all over the world. Their webbed feet work like paddles, making them excellent swimmers. Many eat plants, seeds, insects and small creatures they find in the water.
Duck feathers are waterproof. A gland near the tail makes oil, and ducks spread it over their feathers with their bills so water rolls right off. That keeps them warm and floating for hours without getting soaked.
Many ducks migrate long distances each year, and the mallard is one of the most common ducks in North America. Even made of blocks, a duck is easy to recognize thanks to that wide, flat bill and those webbed feet. Minecraft chickens also flutter down slowly and never take fall damage, thanks to their tiny wings. It is a little detail that makes the farm bird surprisingly tough.
