The Minecraft fox arrived in 2019 and quickly became one of the game's most charming animals. Foxes live in taiga forests full of spruce trees, and snowy taigas have a white-furred version inspired by the arctic fox.
Foxes usually nap during the day, curled into a ball, and head out at night to hunt chickens, rabbits and fish. They love the sweet berries that grow in those forests and will happily sneak into a player's farm to snack on them.
One of their funniest habits is carrying items in their mouths. If a fox spots something on the ground, like an emerald, an egg or even a sword, it grabs it and trots away. They are also very skittish and run off if you approach carelessly.
Winning a fox's trust takes a trick: breed two foxes with sweet berries. The kit that is born will trust you and even defend you from enemies. Just like real foxes, they are clever, quick and hard to catch. The snowy white foxes blend right into their frosty home, a detail many players love spotting on their travels. Keep an eye out for them at dawn.
