About this drawing

A Minecraft snake comes from the fan community, because there are no snakes in the game. Blocky worlds have spiders, silverfish and plenty of other creatures, but snakes only slither into player builds, drawings and mods.

Out in nature, snakes are legless reptiles found almost everywhere except the coldest places. They move by bending their bodies and pushing off rocks, branches and bumps in the ground. Some are tiny, while pythons can grow enormous.

A snake's forked tongue is its secret weapon. It flicks in and out to catch scent particles from the air, then delivers them to a special organ in the roof of the mouth that tells the snake whether food or danger is nearby. As snakes grow, they shed their skin, often in one piece.

Many snakes are harmless to people and helpful too, keeping mouse and rat numbers down. Coiled up like this, a snake is easy to turn into blocks, with each loop stacking neatly on the last. Snakes are cold-blooded, so they bask in the sun to warm up before hunting, and many slow down or hibernate when the weather turns cold.
